New set of wheels

Well, despite my hesitation I may have settled on a payment, I mean vehicle.

I've been driving the S-10 for about 6 years now and it has approximately 150K miles on it so I guess I've gotten my moneys worth out of it. It doesn't burn oil, the fuel economy isn't what I'd like it to be. Last but not least perhaps most importantly, our family has outgrown it. As a matter of fact when Dillon was born we out grew it. Mandy and I could bounce around in it relatively comfortable but certainly not all four of us.

The new (used actually) vehicle is a 2005 GMC Canyon. A very nice truck and actually the fuel economy, based on this websites findings, is pretty good considering it's a four door truck. It's what is considered "mid size". Bigger than the S-10 cousins and smaller than the 1500 full size. All in all a pretty good truck for me.

It's been a long time since I had a payment for my vehicle and other than that I don't see any buyers remorse on the horizon.

***** sinking feeling *****

I just visited the site I referenced in the paragraphs above and the estimated MPG has been lowered, there is a link to the left of the page that explains that the EPA has changed the way it figures fuel economy. Blaaaa. All of a sudden the fuel economy on this truck doesn't look as inviting.

For clarity the mileage was something like 18 City and 24 Highway. The sticker from the dealer, Trucks and Trails, reads 19 City 24 Highway. But as usual YMMV

A little plug about the dealer...Trucks and Trails. I've visited this lot several times and driven several trucks the Canyon makes the second one I've brought home to "kick the tires". Every time I've visited their lot they've always greeted me and have always been generous to let me take ride in their vehicles. The owner, Brent Moore, and I have haggled repeatedly and maybe, just maybe we've settled on this truck. But I couldn't have gone through the paces with other dealerships the way I have at TNT. Their staff has been courteous and helpful I'd recommend them to others based on my experiences thus far.

Worth Repeating...

A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.
